Product Overview
The Double Pendulum Anti-Galloping Device is a specialized protective fitting engineered for overhead transmission lines, designed to suppress galloping—a low-frequency, large-amplitude, self-excited oscillation of conductors caused by wind acting on asymmetrically iced conductors. Galloping can result in flashovers, hardware and insulator damage, broken strands or conductors, and even tower collapse.
Based on the stability anti-galloping mechanism, this device improves the dynamic stability of the conductor system and has become one of the most widely used anti-galloping devices in China's overhead transmission lines. It is equally effective for both AC and DC overhead transmission lines.
Design & Construction
The Double Pendulum Anti-Galloping Device features an integrated structural design that combines two types of pendulum absorbers into a single, unified unit:

| Parametric Excitation Pendulum Absorber | Works in conjunction with the resonance absorber to form the complete double-pendulum system |
Working Principle
When wind causes ice-covered conductors to gallop, the double pendulum structure absorbs vibrational energy from the conductors and converts it into the swinging motion of the pendulums.
The key innovation is the integration of two absorber types:
- Resonance Pendulum Absorber – tuned to the conductor's natural vibration frequency to absorb primary vibrational energy
- Parametric Excitation Pendulum Absorber – addresses parametric excitations and high-frequency vibrations
Working together, these two components provide simultaneous damping of horizontal, vertical, and inclined vibrations. This design changes the torsional inertia parameters of the conductor system, making the system more stable and preventing galloping from occurring.
